Masham steam rally is now in its 43rd year and is one of the longer
running rallies on the national scene. It was started by a legendary
group of Masham people in 1965 to try & raise money for the local
Town Hall and it has gone from strength to strength from then on. The
organisers, Masham Town Hall Association, are a registered charity
and all money raised is used for our Town Hall upkeep & to help
various groups & organisations in the town.
We still have people helping who helped with the 1st & 2nd rallies.
The rally is part of the town’s heritage & the road run from
the rally field to the town on the Saturday evening is well worth seeing.
Our Rally is run completely with volunteer workers we meet every month throughout the year to plan the event and we welcome new members. We are also very grateful if you just have an hour or two to spare over the week end we can always find a task for willing helpers.
One area we are looking for helpers is with the set up and clearing of the field in the days just prior to and preceding the Rally. If you are interested please call in at the organiser’s tent and we will be pleased to see you. Alternatively ring Gill on 01765 689696
On Saturday evening we have our Road Run up to the market place in Masham and a quick tour of the local hostelries, this is also a good photo opportunity with the engines parked on the market place.
